Ada Moore – The Devil is a Woman

Beatnik Jazz revisited!

Ada Moore lived the Beatniks dream to the fullest. She was a bohemian, a writer, a painter, published the grassroot-political ‘The American Negro Woman’-newsletter in the 70s and ruled the stages of jazz- and supper clubs all over the US of A as a singer and performer before she passed away in 1991 at the much too young age of 64. I first stumbled over this truly genius and extremely moody song when it was featured on the fantastic Beat Jazz – Pictures From The Gone World compilation  a couple of years ago and it remained my fave jazz tune ever since.

More beatnik-madness coming soon on GSL so stay tuned. Until then have a rippin’ weekend…
